When compared with silicone, EPDM is significantly inferior with a maximum temperature of 130°C (266°F). Silicone can reach constant temperatures of 230°C (446°F) and up to 270°C (518°F) for special high temperature silicone grades.
From the perspective of evaporation rate, rubber hoses (such as EPDM hoses) generally have a lower evaporation rate compared to silicone hoses. This means that coolant inside rubber hoses is less likely to evaporate, which is advantageous for maintaining the cooling efficiency of the system.
